How To Apply Eyeliner
The first thing that you need to know when trying to apply eyeliner is that the technique you should use depends on the type of eyeliner you have. Let’s take a closer look at the different tools which you might own and see exactly how to use them.
- Pencil Eyeliner
If you have a pencil eyeliner you should look at its tip before you do anything else. If the tip is sharp, you can start by applying it from the middle of your eyelid and move towards the exterior of your eye. This part can be thicker than the line that you will apply on the inner part of the eye. The proper method of holding the eyeliner is from above the eye so it doesn’t obstruct your view if you are working on the top eyelid or from below if you are working on the bottom eyelid. Depending on the type of look you are going for you can decide if you want to use the eyeliner all the way through the inner side of the eye or not. Both looks are attractive, but getting the whole eyelid might be a little more time consuming. A brush can be used if you want to make these lines softer, but only after you finish applying the eyeliner.
- Liquid Eyeliner
The advantage of using a liquid eyeliner is that you will always have a very sharp tip which will make your makeup session much easier for you. The color is more consistent than that offered by a pencil, but most liquid eyeliners are more expensive than pencils. The best method of applying this eyeliner is by starting from the middle of the eyelid and moving towards the exterior. After you’re done with that, you can slowly apply a few strokes and advance to the inner side of the eye. You shouldn’t just draw a line from the inner part of your eye until you reach the middle. If you want to keep the line thin, you will have to make a few gentle strokes starting from the middle and finishing with the inner side of your eye.
In the end, the most important part about applying eyeliner is that you need to start from the middle of your eyelid. After you finish with the middle and exterior part of your eye, you can draw a much thinner line towards your inner eyelid and start working on your waterline.
